AFROBERLIN SCREENINGS & MASTERCLASS DAY | Saturday, February 14, 2026

The AfroBerlin Masterclass & Screening Day opens with a carefully curated program of film screenings, featuring short films and selected feature works by filmmakers from Africa and its global diasporas. The selection spans a wide spectrum of narratives—exploring themes of historical memory, migration, spirituality, identity, and resistance—inviting audiences on a compelling cinematic journey across geographies, cultures, and generations.

Each screening is followed by a moderated conversation with the filmmakers, creating a dynamic space for dialogue between creators and audiences. These exchanges offer deeper insight into the artistic choices, creative processes, and social and cultural contexts that shape the films, fostering critical reflection and meaningful engagement.

The AfroBerlin Masterclasses are designed for emerging filmmakers, producers, writers, and cultural practitioners seeking to strengthen their craft and professional pathways. Led by experienced industry professionals and invited guest speakers, the sessions focus on storytelling grounded in African and Afro-diasporic experiences, with particular emphasis on research-based narratives, ethical representation, and cross-disciplinary approaches linking film, music, and other creative forms.

Participants gain practical knowledge across key stages of the filmmaking ecosystem—including development, production, international collaboration, and festival strategy—while benefiting from direct mentorship, peer exchange, and collective learning.
